Ordered this for my Grandmother who uses our basement den as her living room and is always cold although she has central heat. She LOVES the fireplace portion and the heat works wonderfully.
Initially she was using a small portable heater that had the same wattage as this one and it did absolutely nothing unless she was sitting right over it and it was running full blast all the time. When it was turned off you couldn’t tell it was ever on. The old one ran an easy $200 a month electric bill, were yet to tell what this new one will run but I will give an update when we get the electric bill. Being it cycles on and off and clearly doesn’t run as hard being infrared I’m expecting it to go down.
This heater has many nice features, economy being my favorite. We set it on economy when she leaves to her senior center during the day and it cycles on and off to keep her living room at 68 degrees until she gets home. Takes minutes to heat back up when we turn it back to its 72-75 temp then it starts its cycling to keep it at the desired temperature. It heats the entire room, not just the surround area of the fireplace.
Has a knock over safety feature which we like in case her cat knocks it over which seems too heavy to do but you never know, she does love to lay on it, must be the warmth.
The blower is very strong, sends the hot air far across the room which was another downfall we were finding in other heaters.
The functions are a bit confusing for her to understand (she needs a manual for most everything modern), even took me a minute to get use to but we kept the manual handy for the first few days and its all good from here on out.
